The temporary dam at Model Boating Pond is now approximately 50 percent complete. It should be finished by the end of June. In the below picture you can see the temporary sheet pile dam, behind the crane on floating pontoons ,which now stretches out halfway across the pond.
The top soil has also been removed in much of the work compound. This top soil is being stored in piles within the compound and will be replaced when the excavating work has taken place and silt from the pond has been placed in the borrow pits.
When the temporary dam is in place, the southern end of the Model Boating Pond will be drained and a fish rescue operation will take place – with fish being moved from the drained area into the remaining pond area. This will take place at the beginning of July.
